PRO Threads

Fork

Letters and 3D scenes woven from threads of light, drawn live in WebGL. A drop-in landing page background.

Requests to the three outside hosts upstream calls (the author's server, jsDelivr and Google Fonts) are gone. The scenes and features are the same, and they keep running on your site even if the upstream server goes down.

What's different from the original

Used with its defaults, upstream loads its scenes from the author's server (kubai.design). Just adding it to your site sends your visitors' , and sometimes the page they are on, to that server. The settings panel comes from and the demo fonts from Google Fonts.

  • Scenes load from your own site instead of the author's server (kubai.design)
  • The settings panel (Tweakpane) ships in the repo instead of coming from jsDelivr
  • The demo fonts ship in the repo instead of coming from Google Fonts
  • The Embed button's snippets point at the site you are on

Why it is recommended

It draws threads of light like the MacBook Pro XDR wallpaper, live, in a shader. One script tag puts it on any site, which makes it a great first-screen background. It comes with an A–Z thread typeface, five 3D scenes and nine palettes, so there is plenty to use.

What you need

  • The website project you want the background in
  • A such as Claude Code or Cursor

About 10 minutes

  1. Paste the prompt below into a (it copies the 's files into your site's )
  2. Check the <script type="module" src="/pro-threads/embed.js"> line is in
  3. Check the <pro-threads scene="ring"> tag sits behind the section

Paste it into a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor. A ChatGPT chat window cannot run the commands.

Put a PRO Threads scene behind the first screen of my website.
- Get github.com/Nam128/pro-threads and copy its runtime files into a pro-threads/ folder in my site's static files, following the Self-hosting section of its README.
- In the first section, add <script type="module" src="/pro-threads/embed.js"></script> and <pro-threads scene="ring"></pro-threads>, laid as a full-bleed background, with a dark gradient on top so the text stays readable.
- When done, check the browser's Network tab for any request to another domain.

Before you start, check for existing installs and port conflicts. Before each command, explain in one line what it does, and ask me first before anything that deletes, overwrites or exposes something publicly.
IP address

The address that points to your device on the internet. It also reveals your rough location.

CDN

A service that copies files to servers around the world and serves them from nearby. Fast, but each download leaves a trace on that company's servers.

Coding agent

An AI app that runs commands on your computer for you (Claude Code, Cursor and the like). Unlike a ChatGPT chat window, it actually runs the install commands.

Fork

A copy of someone else's open-source project, changed and published separately. The original author's credit stays.

Static files folder

The folder for files a website serves as they are, like images and scripts: public/ in Astro or Next.js.

One of the most permissive licences: keep the copyright notice and you may use, change and even sell it.
